American FlagNormally, you wouldn’t think that the 4th of July holiday would be a popular time for weddings but this year, Tlaquepaque had four weddings over the 4th of July weekend. When I mentioned to another bride that we were having three weddings on Saturday, July 4th, she said that was an unusual day to get married. I then told her that I got married on the 4th of July in 1991. The way I thought about it – I probably wouldn’t have to work on the 4th of July (wrong), and there would always be fireworks on my wedding anniversary (not in Sedona!). So, I can totally understand why this American holiday would be chosen as a wedding date.

Friday, July 3 we were happy to host the wedding ceremony of Joni Jones and Jeff Berta in the Tlaquepaque Chapel. It was a warm Sedona day but the temperatures cooled off during the evening hours and we experienced a slight shower just before the start of the ceremony. The lovely floral was provided by Mountain High Floral in Sedona and guests were entertained by Oman Ken playing guitar in the Chapel. Andrew Murphy, Heart of Sedona Weddings, performed the intimate ceremony.

Weddings in Sedona made the wedding arrangements for Melissa Careau and Karl Evangelista who celebrated their wedding vows in the Tlaquepaque Chapel on Saturday, July 4.  Candles were provided by Red Rock Candle and Gift in Tlaquepaque. Brian David played classical guitar as guests entered the chapel. The ceremony was performed by Susan Perry and Mel Russell took photographs of the wedding couple.

Kyoko Makino and Jon Helleson had a 6:30pm ceremony on the Patio de las Campanas. Kyoki and Jon came down from Flagstaff for their wedding which was performed by Joel Boyd. Tim Turner was the photographer for the wedding. Kyoko and Jon spoke their vows in front of their friends and family in the intimate Patio while birds sang and chirped in celebration.

Our last wedding on Saturday was held in the Tlaquepaque Chapel at 7:30pm. The marriage of Robyn Turner and Damian Giardina was the intimate ceremony performed by Andrew Murphy, Heart of Sedona Weddings. Taltos Productions covered the wedding – Michael David and Schelli Rothi, photographers. They love to shoot weddings at Tlaquepaque – and who can blame them! The lovely setting is enjoyed by everyone. Mountain High Floral decorated the intimate Tlaquepaque Chapel with lovely floral arrangements. Oman Ken played his magical harp as guests entered the ceremony. It was a lovely wedding and a perfect end to our 4th of July weekend.
